Apple Pie Baking Contest

To be judged live before audience like fairs of yesteryear!!
Directions For Entry: Bring pies to Pioneer Village from 5:00 to 5:30. Your pie is your free ticket for entry to the fair (1 ticket per pie).
Enter thru back gate (Gate 2). The back gate attendant will direct you to the parking area. If you need a cart the attendant will have one meet you
in parking lot to take you to Pioneer Village where judging will take place before a live audience on the Rotary Stage.

PRIZES
1st place – $200 plus one season pass
2nd place – $100
3rd place – $50
4th place – $25
Rules:
1. Traditional double crust
2. All components of pies must be homemade.
3. 8-9 inches in size.
4. All pies must be submitted in disposable containers – not
returned.
5. Winning pies become property of Wildwood Resort and Marina
(our sponsor)
6. Only one entry per person.
7. Bring recipe on index card: Winners must submit their recipe
after judging.
Judging Criteria:
Judges will evaluate 3 components of each pie:
1. Overall exterior appearance – basic eye appeal, color, shape,
edges sealed
2. Inside characteristics:
A. Crust – flaky, not crumbly, crisp
B. Filling – Fruit tender and uniform, not runny,
holds shape
3. Taste:
A. Crust – Rich, blended, not doughy
B. Filling – Good balance of sweet and spices,
not too thick
C. Great memorable combination of taste and
texture
